平安

 

Leader's Notes: Purpose: The thrust of this study in John is to get to know God better, to see that he is always with us no matter what happens to us and that he will love and care for us because we are precious to him. Knowing and trusting this kind of God produces the fruit of peace within us. Again, not all questions should be asked. Try to highlight the questions you think most important and bring it out.

NOTE: Questions in ‘*’ are for Christians only.

Leaders Notes: This passage is the teaching of Jesus before his death, it is like his will. If there are older people in your group, you may want to read the scripture first and ask questions like: 這段經文好像是耶穌的遺言,這和你知道的遺言有何相同和不同的地方?

 

1. 如果有一把尺可以衡量你的憂慮或是平安的程度，（１＝很平安，１０＝很憂慮），你如何評價你的生命，請從１－１０選一個數字，請分享為什麼．

 

2. 有那些事情會造成我們的憂慮，有那些事情可以帶來平安？為什麼？

Leader's Notes: If there are non-Christians arround, let them share. Christians can share at the end of the bible study that God is the only one who can provide peace to us.

 

4. 在你的生命中，和誰在一起能夠給你平安的感覺？你是如何和這個人建立這麼親密的關係的？

 

Leader's Notes Normally someone who you feel peaceful with is someone who is very close with you. The idea is at the end challenge people to have closer relationship with God who is the only one able to put peace in our heart forever.

Leaders Notes: Christians may explain a bit more about Jesus, Father and Son even though it can be hard to understand the idea of trinity.

10. "認識"在經文裡的意思為何？

 

Leaders Notes: It is through faith believers can see Jesus and know Jesus. Knowing in the context means believing in Jesus (v10-12). Also, we can know the Holy Spirit because “the Holy Spirit be with you and lives in you”(v17). It means that the Holy Spirit enables us to truly know who Jesus is and that is the true peace. (v26-27) True believers have assurance in their heart so we can understand everything Jesus said and that alone can provide great comfort and peace in our heart because we know that Jesus did not, does not and will not leave us.

The Greek word "Kown" in the dictionary has the following meaning:

    know, have knowledge of (of sexual relations Mt 1.25; Lk 1.34); find out, learn, understand; perceive, discern; to have knowledge; acknowledge, recognize; impv. be very certain, remember

 

Just like many other words, it can mean many things. Matthew 1:25 and Luke 1:34 does have a sexual connotation. However, the meaning of the word is best determined by its immediate context (上下文). Therefore, “knowing” means believing in Jesus. (14:9 "you still do not know me?"14:10 "do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?") Disciples know the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit dwells in them.(v17) It seems quite naturally the disciples will know from their heart intuitively, not something that is forced upon them. In both cases "knowing" is more than just cognitive learning, but a relational one, because the idea of mutual indwelling is present in chaps.14-17. It is about having deep relationships with one another.
